Welcome

Welcome to the Brighton parishes of St James and St Joan of Arc. St James was the original parish in the Bayside area and reached to the Peninsula. In 1920 St Joan of Arc was declared a separate parish. The community is looking forward to the celebration of the centenary in 2021.

If we look back at what the Spirit has achieved through the people of Brighton in over 130 years we see a remarkable story. This can give us inspiration to enter into God’s creative work among us. Let us open ourselves to that same Spirit at work among us today.

Please join us as we progress to being the Light of Christ in this part of the world.

Future Direction

Our Parish Priest, Fr Martin Dixon has commenced his well-earned retirement from the 5th August this year. We are most grateful to him for his dedication to the parishes, spiritual guidance and care for parishioners over the past ten years.

We now welcome Fr David Cartwright and Fr Dean Mathieson as Parish Priests for the new Bayside Catholic Mission which covers the bayside parishes of St James, St Joan of Arc, St Mary’s Hampton, Sacred Heart Sandringham and Nazareth in Beaumaris and Black Rock. We look forward to supporting them as they lead our Catholic communities.
